Just another site

I am a music lover who finally got off her duff (or on it, I suppose) and started sharing her opinions about music.  I care passionately about music.  As a former English major, I was trained to read texts very carefully.  As a student of pop culture  and post-modernism, I think “text” can mean a lot of different things.  Songs are just a different kind of text, to be read with the ears.

I live in Southern California (the greater Long Beach area) with my mother, the memory of my father, my cats, and a lot of CDs & books.  I try to stay involved with the rest of the world, so it might bleed into my jukebox on occasion.  But that’s part of the joy of music: it matters all the time for all kinds of reasons.  I’m going to try to share with others some of the reasons music matters to me.

And it turns out somebody likes me!

    • Your writing has so much personality that any mistakes just disappear. I enjoy just being able to visit your circus. Thank you for listening to my jukebox. If you ever have a request, put in a quarter and let me know.

  3. I agree with clownonfire LOL i’d be terrified at the grammatical errors on my pages being found out. Anyhoo I’m Garry nice to meet you! 🙂

    • Welcome, Garry! I hope you enjoy the music. And don’t worry about any errors; I make enough of my own. Why should I worry about anyone else?

      • that’s a very good point 🙂

        • I read a quote once (although I can’t quite remember it now) that said something to the effect of you can’t make all the mistakes yourself, so learn from others. It was much better when I read it, but I think I got the gist of it down. As a writing tutor, I’ve always learned as much from my students as they did from me (I hope, anyway).

    • Hi, Neighbor! I’m gonna have to check out your blog now (not that I wouldn’t anyway; if someone shows up here, I at least look at what they’re doing on the interwebs). My BFF lives near Fingerprints, too. And my cousin lives in that neighborhood, now. It’s a great area.

    Hello there,

I have really enjoyed reading through your blog and I was actually referred to it by one of your “followers”. It certainly looks you have real passion for music and it really shows on the blog. Being a bit of a “music freak” myself I really love how you simply like “good” music and don’t really limit yourself to one genre. I think your blog would really be worth sharing with more people and I believe I could help to get you new readers if you are interested.

I am looking for passionate writers to join our community of bloggers and I was wondering whether you would consider sharing your posts on Glipho and become a member?

We are a fairly new social blogging network aiming to promote writers and build up their audiences by exposing their writing to our members and spreading it through various channels.

Joining up might be a good idea to give your writing and your blog more exposure while having fun and meeting fellow writers.

You can actually import your WordPress posts to Glipho without affecting your current blog at all and instantly gain new readers. You can also connect your account to all major social media networks making it very easy to publicise your writing across your accounts.

We do everything to promote your work and make our platform as easy to use as possible so that you can focus on your writing only.
